Deeg Fort and Deeg Palace

👉Deeg Palace is a palace 32 km from Bharatpur in Rajasthan, India, built in 1772 as a luxury resort for the rulers of the state of Bharatpur. The palace was used until the early 1970s. This palace is one of the finest architect building of Jat rulers of bharatpur. Old Colorful Water fountains made by jat rulers here is the most attractive thing to watch here. Deeg was the capital of the Jat kings before they moved to Bharatpur.

Deeg Palace

👉Badan Singh, who ascended the throne in 1721, built a palace there. Due to its strategic location and proximity to Agra, Deeg faced repeated attacks from invaders. His son, Prince Suraj Mal, began construction of a fortress around the palace around 1730.

👉The fort had massive walls and a deep moat to ward off marauders. Deeg was the site of a legendary battle between the Jats and a combined Mughal and Maratha army of 8,000 men. Encouraged by his victory, Suraj Mal began making inroads into enemy territory. After eight years of successful raids, Suraj Mal conquered Delhi and ransacked the Red Fort taking away masses of valuables, including an entire marble building, which was dismantled and numbered. The palace was later rebuilt at Deeg within the reservoir wall.

👉As water passed through them through an intricate network of pipes, the fountains spouted colored water. The fountain splashes and jets create a monsoon atmosphere which is enhanced by a unique technique that produces a thunderous sound all around the pavilion. Hundreds of metal spheres strategically placed on the channel surrounding the roof are rolled under the pressure of the water which results in a thundering effect. The atmosphere in a desert town must have been important to Jat kings and queens.

👉With Roop Sagar flowing down one side and this huge and magnificent fort on the elevated coast, Deeg Fort is a favorite with tourists. In 1772, this fort was built here due to the closeness to Agra. In 1730, Raja Suraj Mal started the construction of a fortress around the palace, it was then that the massive walls were raised and the deep moat was conceptualized to ward off invaders.

👉The fort seems heavily influenced by the concept and design of the Mughal Charbagh, has a similar design appearance, with lawns located at all four corners and a gateway in the center. While the fort has Roop Sagar on one side, on the other is Gobind Sagar, who together help lower the temperature of the fort. On the roof is an ancient canon artillery, which must have been used in battle during the reign of the Jat dynasty. In the northwest corner of the fort is Lakka Burj, a 70ft tall watchtower, so climb it and see the city at first sight, a mesmerizing yes, totally!
